Our Core Group

Today, our Samajam is one of the most reputed socio cultural organizations in Mumbai, having more than 3500+ members , engaged in a variety of social, cultural  and educational activities in  Borivali.

The post independent  situation forced the younger generation of Kerala to come in terms with the ground realities and  they  were forced  try their luck outside Kerala, for their livelihood and to support  their family in Kerala. Many young adventures people migrated to many parts of India. A handful of migrated Malayalees settled in Borivali, the western suburbs of  Mumbai( Bombay), have  formed  a Samajam to stay connected with one another for social security and to relieve their home sickness.   And officially the Samajam was inaugurated by (late) Shri. V.K. Krishna Menon, one of the great Indian Diplomats and illustrious Malayalee,  on 2nd December 1961, as The Borivli Malayali Samajam. Further the Samajam was registered under The Societies Act 1860 vide Registration Certificate No. BOM/125/68GBBSD and The Public Trust Act vide Registration Certificate No.F/1781/BOM issued by the Charity Commissioner, Mumbai.

Managing Committee

At present, The BorivliMalayaliSamajam  is one of the most reputed socio cultural organizations in Mumbai, having more than 3500+ members , engaged in a variety of social, cultural  and educational activities in Borivali. 

The entire affairs of the Samajam is conducted under the superintendence, direction and control of the Core Group/ Managing Committee with utmost  transparency and openness.

The team of 24 members to the core group/Managing Committee is democratically elected from the Members of the Samajam at its Annual General Body Meeting for a term of five years. The elected  Committee Members then  select the Office Bears for the said term.

The current elected members are subject specialists/professionals  in  Accounts, Administration, Banking, Commerce, Finance, Hospitality,  Human Resource Development,  Information Technology, Law, Logistics,  Management, Marketing, Production and distribution, Real Estate, Sports and Games.

All the policy matters of the Samajam are conceptualised , developed and implemented by the Managing Committee.
